APES Foster Program

Welcome to the APES Foster Program at APES Shelter & Rescue! Our program is specifically designed to provide essential assistance for exotic animals in our care, especially during times of overflow or when an animal requires round-the-clock attention due to illness or injury. By joining our foster program, you can play a vital role in offering temporary homes and expert care to these special animals, ensuring they receive the love and attention they need during challenging times. Located in St Helens, Merseyside, our dedicated team is committed to the well-being of exotic pets across the northwest. Explore how you can make a significant impact through fostering with us at Cross House on Sutton Road.

APES Foster Program Rules and Guidelines

1. Personal Setups

  • Foster carers are required to have their own suitable setups for the specific exotic animals they wish to care for. This includes appropriate housing, enrichment, and environmental controls.
  • APES Shelter & Rescue will supply necessary medications, but foster carers will be responsible for providing food for the animals.
  • All setups will be thoroughly vetted by the APES Shelter & Rescue team to ensure they meet our high standards for animal welfare and safety.

2. Database Information

  • Detailed information about foster carers and their setups will be maintained in our secure database. This helps us make informed decisions about the best possible placements for animals needing foster care.

3. Vetting Checks

  • Foster carers must undergo comprehensive vetting checks, including background checks and barring checks, to ensure they are qualified and capable of providing excellent care.

4. Annual Membership Fee

  • There is an annual membership fee of £125, which helps cover the administrative costs associated with running the foster program.
  • Payment of the membership fee is required only after acceptance into the program.

5. Application Process

  • Interested carers must complete an application form outlining their experience, the specific type of setup, and the kinds of animals they are equipped to care for.
  • After initial vetting, a home visit will be scheduled to verify the setup and living conditions.
  • Upon satisfactory completion of all checks, and payment of the membership fee, carers will be officially enrolled in the APES Foster Program.

By adhering to these rules and guidelines, foster carers can ensure they are providing the highest standard of care to the exotic animals that depend on us. Your cooperation and commitment are critical to the success of our mission to rescue and rehabilitate these magnificent creatures.
